Born in Bradford, Yorkshire 1951
About to relocate to Deal after 30 years of living in Whitstable.
During the late 60’s early 70’s was when I got my first radio experiences with a number of hospital radio stations in West Yorkshire.
Turned professional DJ at the age of 19, working extensively in the north of England, for large brewery chains and hotel groups, doing week night pub venues and diner dances at locations such as the Midland Hotel Manchester at the weekend.
In 1971 made the transition to club DJ playing at top venues in the north, eventually joined IDEA in Copenhagen working clubs around Europe.
1974 I was running a chain of mobile discos in the Midlands, a year later relocated to Merseyside, where I started on BBC Radio Merseyside.
Then marriage, leaving entertainment for secular employment, moving to live in Germany for 12 years. Divorce, Gap Year, went travelling the world, became a PADI diving instructor, and eventually returned to the UK after bursting an ear drum on an underwater rescue.
Now on my way to 40 needed to get a proper job which I did with Pilkington Glass, and was primarily involved with delivering new products to markets, and getting them established in the industry. A typical example would be Activ self-cleaning glass.
I did my stint at Bridge Country Club, and joined up with the Invicta Radio appeal team, which lead on to us doing all the events and outside broadcasts for Coast and Invicta.
Until a couple of years ago I was running Oldayz mobile disco, where we played vinyl 45’s, Oldayz has now retired and is no more.
I have also recently retired from the glass, window and construction industry and the opportunity to join Academy came along which I was very happy to take.
I am a qualified portrait photographer
I play walking football for Canterbury WFC
I enjoy dancing a style of dance called smooth jive.
